Family Place Library Workshop #3: Child Development, Chloe Drew from Indiana Outdoor School--PLEASE WEAR CLOTHING THAT YOU DON'T MIND GETTING DIRTY!!
Dear Parent/Caregiver,
Thank you for registering for the Child Development Parent/Child Workshop, which will be held on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024. The program will run from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Indiana Free Library.
There are two main goals of the Parent Child Workshop.
1) The first is to provide a setting in which you and your child can play and learn together, free from the interruptions of daily life. To facilitate this, our storyroom and craft areas will be transformed into three different activity areas:
The Art Exploration Area provides hands-on art materials for your child. These activities are designed to encourage children and parents to explore and play with these various materials, rather than to create final product.
The Toy Stations include: infant toys, books, puzzles, blocks, transportation toys, musical instruments, puppets, a play kitchen, and more! The toys are purposely divided into stations to set up an environment of child-directed play. *Please note: Our AWE Learning Computers and Crayon Kiosk iPads will be unavailable for play during the workshop.
The Resource Material Area contains library materials and free handouts. Different aspects of parenting will be featured each week. Included in this area are board books, picture books, and parenting materials to check out for you and your little one.
2) The second goal is to introduce parents to community resource specialists who will provide you with information on different aspects of parenting and child development. If you have any specific questions or concerns, this is a great opportunity to talk in an informal and confidential manner.
We want you to enjoy yourself and encourage you to follow your child’s lead as they explore this fun-filled program. Please call the Youth Services Department at 724-465-8841 ext. 6, if you are unable to attend or have any further questions.
Very Truly Yours,
Valetta Shuppe, Youth Services Librarian, Indiana Free Library
