More Than a Library

The Indiana Free Library is practically a mini-office center! We have desktop computers, productivity software, high-speed internet, Wi-Fi, printers, a copier, fax machine, scanner, and more.

  • Desktop Computers

There are eight computers designated for Internet access in the Reference area, two for teens 12-18 and one for children under 12 or parents of children under 12 in the Children's Department. Children must use the Internet computers in the Children's Department. If they are under the age of 18, they must have their parent/guardian sign a permission form. Internet computers can print to either color (.25 cents) per page or black & white (.10 cents) per page printers.

  • Software available on the library's computers includes:

Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access)
Open-source software ( 7zip, Audacity, BlueGriffon, Gimp, Inkscape, PDFCreator)
Utilities (Adobe Reader DC, Adobe Flash, Adobe Shockwave, Greenshot, Skype, Microsoft Security Essentials)
Internet Browsers (Edge, Firefox, Google Chrome)
Media Software (Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, VLC)

  • Free Wi-Fi

The library offers free Wi-Fi if you bring in your laptop (Windows or Mac OS) or mobile device. There is no fee to use the Wi-Fi, and it is available throughout the library. Connect to the "IFLPublic" wireless network (no password necessary). Please review our policies on the welcome page before connecting.

  • Scan, Copy, and Fax

Our copy machine makes high quality, fast copying available at a minimal cost (10¢ per page for black and white and 25¢ for color). You are responsible for all copies you make, so please ask a staff member for assistance if needed. Faxing is also available for $2.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page. The phone number to receive a fax is 724.465.9902. Scanning and emailing a document as a PDF on the copy machine is 10¢ per page.

  • Reserve-A-Librarian

Create your own technology class with this program designed with you in mind. Schedule 15 minutes or half an hour with a reference librarian to answer your technology questions and learn new apps. Reserve at least 24 hours in advance by phone or at the Reference Desk.

  • Community Room Rental

The Library offers a Community Room which can be rented out at a charge of $40.00 for 2 hours, $5.00 for each additional half-hour. A $20.00 cash deposit is required on the day of the rental and returned after room clean-up. This room is perfect for any type of meeting, party, bridal or baby shower. The space is appropriate for presentations with screen and kitchen facilities. The Community Room can be reserved by calling the library at 724.465.8841. It may be reserved at any time and is done on a first come first serve basis during library operating hours.

  • Exam Proctoring

We do offer free proctoring services by appointment. Please call the Reference extension and speak with a Librarian to schedule. Unfortunately, as the library is closed due to the Covid pandemic, our exam proctoring services are not available until further notice.

  • Registered book clubs may borrow and return a kit with 15-20 copies of a title and discussion questions to get your club going. This comes to us as a service through our District center in Johnstown. Kits need to be ordered in advance based on availability. View a listing of available titles at Cambria County Library and register your group at the Front Desk. Click the link above to see a list of available titles.

  • Through our membership in Access PA, our patrons may borrow materials from more than 575 libraries throughout Pennsylvania. Limit of three active loans at one time. Costs incurred for non-retrievals. Request forms from the Front Desk. Click for more information.

  • Low-Vision Services

In addition to our Large Print Collection, the library is equipped with a print enlarger/viewer. Applications to access the Visually-impaired Services of the Carnegie systems are available upon request.
