We have so many special programs and events happening in the next few weeks!

  • 4:30 PM: Light Up Night Activities for Kids Begin (see below)
    6:30 PM: Tree Lighting
    7 PM: Holiday Parade on Philadelphia Street (10th Street to 5th Street)

  • November 18 - Diwali-Festival of Lights

    10:30 IFL Patrons are welcome to come and help color a rangoli outside the library stoop and steps to celebrate light over darkness
    11:30 come on inside for Henna tattoos and more light festivities
    12:00 Dance performance and teaching patrons some basic dances.

  • December 2 - A visit from Mrs. Claus

    Visit and storytime from Mrs. Claus from 11:00 - 2:00! Enjoy storytimes, an easy craft, sweet treats, and write a letter to Santa so Mrs. Claus can take it back to him!

  • Dec 2 - The Kwanzaa Celebration: Family, Friends, Community, and Culture

    Join us for an opening display and presentation that reflects upon the African American holiday that celebrates family, friends, community, and culture, from December 26 – January 1. You’ll enjoy lunch, music, and comradery for mental release during an awesome event. Sponsored by Indiana County NAACP in cooperation with Indiana Free Library (IFL) on December 2, 2023, 12 noon – 3 pm. Please bring a new pair of socks to donate to those in need for our “Socks for All Drive.” For more information and to register, contact the NAACP at naacp.indiana.county@gmail.com or the IFL.   • December 4th-14th - IFL 3rd Annual Gingerbread House Display and Contest

    IFL 3rd Annual Gingerbread House Display and Contest. Runs from December 4th-14th, when the winners (Three different age groups- 5-8, 9-14, 15+) will be chosen from the most votes received from library patrons.

  • December 9 - Cookie Tour

    12PM – 2PM: The IAWL fun continues Saturday with the “Christmas Cookie Tour” (while supplies last). Those wanting to participate in the “Christmas Cookie Tour” need to bring a new & unwrapped toy to IRMC Park for a list of participating businesses! After completing the tour, participants can register for a chance to win a kids bike in the “Christmas Cookie Tour” giveaway!

  • December 12th - A special Mommy, Me, and a Cup of Tea

    Parents who attend can learn a little about choosing safe toys for their little ones for Christmas. We will be listening to a Toy Safety webinar from Playsafe.org.

  • December 13th - Cards, Cocoa, and Cookies

    Wednesday, December 13 from 6-8 PM. This is a drop-in event. Come and go as you please!
    The holidays can be especially lonely for people in care homes. Join us to decorate some holiday cards for residents of local nursing and personal care homes. We’ll have the supplies and snacks, all you need to do is show up and have fun! Spread some holiday cheer this season!
    Can't make it to the event? Card-making supplies will be out for anyone to make a card until December 20th.
