Bookstore Hours & Openings

The Indiana Free Library is growing! Opening in April 2025, you will be able to join us in The Little Read Bookstore five times a month to browse our ever-changing inventory of used books, DVDs, CDs, and more for purchase. Please enter The Little Read Bookstore through our 9th Street side door, near our outdoor garden. (You cannot enter the bookstore through the main library entrance.)

We will be open for shopping each month on:

-       The 1st Monday from 4 PM – 8 PM

-       The 2nd Tuesday from 1 PM – 5 PM

-       The 3rd Monday from 4 PM – 8 PM

-       The 3rd Saturday from 10 AM – 2 PM

-       The 4th Tuesday from 1 PM – 5 PM

If you’re unsure if we're open, please call the library for more information or check our 9th Street side entrance for the ‘Open’ sign.

 

Pricing

Used materials will be priced as follows:

-       $1 for children’s books and regular paperbacks (on the rack)

-       $2 for any non-fiction book

-       $3 for any mass paperback and hardcover fiction book

-       Other items (including merchandise, special materials, and other items) will be priced as marked

 

Donating Used Books and Other Items 

We invite the general public to donate books to The Little Read Bookstore on the 2nd and 3rd Thursdays of each month by making an appointment by calling (724) 465-8841.

Books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, and other approved donation materials may be dropped off on your scheduled appointment time and date at the back of the library. Please pull into the back library lot and park next to the big green dumpster out back. A library staff member or volunteer will meet you at the back door to accept your donation. Books must be clean and free of mold/ dander. Donations of children’s books, young adult, and adult fiction and non-fiction are encouraged!  

 

Volunteering at the Bookstore

The Little Read Bookstore is primarily operated by a dedicated group of volunteers at Indiana Free Library. Patrons and friends are invited to volunteer for shifts at the bookstore. Interested candidates can apply to be a volunteer at the circulation desk or by calling (724) 465-8841 for more information.

Volunteer responsibilities may include opening and closing the bookstore, light dusting, shelving and sorting incoming donations, accepting payments, and other duties as assigned. Volunteers are expected to commit to either a 2-hour or 4-hour volunteer shift.
