Eastern European food traditions are as diverse as the regions they come from, spanning Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, the Balkans, and so much more. This talk takes audiences on a journey through both everyday dishes and festive specialties, exploring how recipes reflect local ingredients, family practices, migration stories, and cultural identity. From dumplings and breads to soups, sweets, and preserved foods, attendees will see how flavors and techniques have traveled across borders and generations. Along the way, we’ll highlight the resilience, creativity, and communal spirit embedded in Eastern European kitchens, revealing the stories and history behind the foods that continue to bring people together today.
