Remake Learning Days Full STEAM Ahead

Remake Learning Days Full STEAM Ahead

The Children's Department of the Indiana Free Library has new STEM kits that our kind donors have helped us bring into the library this year. Our new materials were researched and purchased in order to help kids explore science, technology, engineering, and math. These kits and activities were carefully chosen from website reviews and our own patron's requests. We also have some cool nature and art activities imagined and collected by our artful and adventurous children's librarian, Val!

Our Remake Learning STEAM PLAY Day will take place on May 9th from Noon-3 PM. We will have easy and/or sensory activities for kids ages 3-5 and more intellectually-demanding things to work on for those ages 6-11. Parents must attend the event with their children as we consider the event a great chance for family interaction and even adult learning and exploration.

Drop in during the afternoon hours and experiment with the great stuff we will have out for you and your kids. Most of our activities will be self-directed, meaning--you and your kids can explore at your leisure. The ever popular Ozobots and SNAP Circuits will be here! You'll be able to do some nature-related science experiments too, by dissecting owl pellets and planting a sunflower. As our summer reading theme relates to dinosaurs and paleontology, we'll have dinosaur art and a clay play dinosaur dig for you. A librarian or library volunteer will be available to help with the art and nature activities as those may be a little difficult for kids younger than 8 years of age.

As always, our events are free and open to the public. This events does require registration on our website at: www.indianafreelibrary.org. You can find the link to registration in the Event Calendar on May 9th. Please provide good contact information and the age of the child(ren) attending.

See you in the library for a fun afternoon of STEAM!!
