The story of the Morel family, Paul, the son, a young man and budding artist, his brothers William and Arthur, and their mother Gertrude. The sons’ mother is unhappy in her marriage and devotes herself to her family, particularly her son Paul by suffocating any of his relationships. This leads to conflict when he pursues his own romances with other women.
