X-WR-CALDESC:Dear Parent/Caregiver\,\n\nThank you for registering for the C
hild Development Parent/Child Workshop\, which will be held on Tuesday\, D
ecember 3rd\, 2024. The program will run from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Ind
iana Free Library. For our last workshop\, Children’s Librarian\, Val Shup
pe will present Music and Movement. Val has a Masters in Library and Infor
mation Science\, and a minor in Music Education from WVU.\n\nThere are two
main goals of the Parent Child Workshop. \n\n1) The first is to provide
a setting in which you and your child can play and learn together\, free f
rom the interruptions of daily life. To facilitate this\, our storyroom an
d craft areas will be transformed into three different activity areas:\n\n
The Art Exploration Area provides hands-on art materials for your child.
These activities are designed to encourage children and parents to explore
and play with these various materials\, rather than to create final produ
ct. \n\nThe Toy Stations include: infant toys\, books\, puzzles\, blocks
 \, transportation toys\, musical instruments\, puppets\, a play kitchen\,
and more! The toys are purposely divided into stations to set up an enviro
nment of child-directed play. *Please note: Our AWE Learning Computers and
Crayon Kiosk iPads will be unavailable for play during the workshop.\n\nT
he Resource Material Area contains library materials and free handouts. Di
fferent aspects of parenting will be featured each week. Included in this
area are board books\, picture books\, and parenting materials to check ou
t for you and your little one.\n\n2) The second goal is to introduce paren
ts to community resource specialists who will provide you with information
on different aspects of parenting and child development. If you have any
specific questions or concerns\, this is a great opportunity to talk in a
n informal and confidential manner. \n\nWe want you to enjoy yourself and
encourage you to follow your child’s lead as they explore this fun-filled
program. Please call the Youth Services Department at 724-465-8841 ext. 6\
, if you are unable to attend or have any further questions.\n\nVery Truly
Yours\,\n\nValetta Shuppe\, Youth Services Librarian\, Indiana Free Libra
