X-WR-CALDESC:Dear Parent/Caregiver\,\n\nThank you for registering for the E
arly Literacy Parent/Child Workshop\, which will be held on Tuesday\, Nove
mber 5th\, 2024. The program will run from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Indian
a Free Library. This program will be presented by Barb Carr\, our own Chil
dren’s Assistant who has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Early Child
hood Education. \n\nThere are two main goals of the Parent Child Workshop.
\n\n1) The first is to provide a setting in which you and your child can
play and learn together\, free from the interruptions of daily life. To f
acilitate this\, our storyroom and craft areas will be transformed into th
ree different activity areas:\n\nThe Art Exploration Area provides hands-o
n art materials for your child. These activities are designed to encourag
e children and parents to explore and play with these various materials\,
rather than to create final product. \n\nThe Toy Stations include: infan
 t toys\, books\, puzzles\, blocks\, transportation toys\, musical instrume
nts\, puppets\, a play kitchen\, and more! The toys are purposely divided
into stations to set up an environment of child-directed play. *Please not
e: Our AWE Learning Computers and Crayon Kiosk iPads will be unavailable f
or play during the workshop.\n\nThe Resource Material Area contains librar
y materials and free handouts. Different aspects of parenting will be feat
ured each week. Included in this area are board books\, picture books\, an
d parenting materials to check out for you and your little one.\n\n2) The
second goal is to introduce parents to community resource specialists who
will provide you with information on different aspects of parenting and ch
ild development. If you have any specific questions or concerns\, this is
a great opportunity to talk in an informal and confidential manner. \n\nW
e want you to enjoy yourself and encourage you to follow your child’s lead
as they explore this fun-filled program. Please call the Youth Services D
epartment at 724-465-8841 ext. 6\, if you are unable to attend or have any
  further questions.\n\nVery Truly Yours\,\n\nValetta Shuppe\, Youth Servic
 es Librarian\, Indiana Free Library\n
