The Radium Girls by Kate Moore

No one told Mollie about the dangers of working with phosphorous before she started her job at the United States Radium Corporation just after World War I. Her tedious and seemingly harmless painting job killed her. Radium Girls points out the many ways companies, medical doctors, and the law failed to acknowledge and remedy the problems, sometimes deadly ones, associated with industry in the early twentieth century.
