Spring Gardening: Backyard Ponds and Water Features

Date:
Tuesday, May 1, 2018 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Anyone can have a water feature, even if you just have a small area!  The sound of running water is calming and is a magnet for songbirds.   Join Penn State Master Gardener Julie Baker as she discusses small ponds and water features that can bring life to your backyard.  Julie will talk about construction of small ponds and water features, evaluating and maintaining water quality, appropriate plants, bog filtration versus commercial filters, and how to successfully incorporate live creatures such as fish and snails.   You will also learn how to avoid the most common mistakes made with a new pond and how to minimize maintenance time so that you can get the maximum enjoyment from your water feature.  Light refreshments will be provided.
