Early Literacy Stations

 

The Children’s Department at the Indiana Free Library has available two Advanced Workstations in Education, Inc. (AWE) Early Literacy Stations. Each child-friendly computer offers access to 46 software programs especially for children two years old through second grade. A colorful keyboard, tiny mouse, and generous touch screen allow children to choose a subject area such as math, science, reading, computer skills, music or writing. Programs include Reader Rabbit, JumpStart Phonics, Dora’s Magic Castle, Krazy ArtRoom, Math Blaster, My Amazing Human Body, and Sammy’s Science House. Several Living Books, including Arthur’s Teacher Trouble, Mercer Mayer’s Just Grandma and Me, and Stellaluna teach early reading skills in a highly interactive book.
